KOREAN SCI-FI THRILLER ‘HOPE’ SET TO RELEASE IN INDIA ON OCTOBER 23, 2026
The highly anticipated Korean feature will hit Indian cinemas following the completion of its CBFC certification process
Mumbai, September 2026: The highly anticipated Korean sci-fi thriller HOPE is set to release in Indian cinemas on October 23, 2026. The film, which was earlier scheduled for a September 25 release, was deferred to allow sufficient time for the requisite screening and certification process by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The film’s English version has been approved by the CBFC without any cuts, while the certification process for its Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions is currently underway. The film’s worldwide release will continue through November 2026, with HOPE opening in the UK, Sweden, Switzerland and Ireland this week, followed by releases in Argentina, Germany, France and Spain in October, among other international markets.
The film has also registered a strong theatrical performance in the United States, having crossed USD 7 million in its US rollout, making it the highest-grossing Korean film in the US, according to its international box-office performance.
Directed by Na Hong-jin, the acclaimed filmmaker behind The Chaser, The Yellow Sea and The Wailing, HOPE is an ambitious sci-fi thriller set in a remote port town where the discovery of an unidentified object triggers a mysterious and dangerous chain of events.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander and Taylor Kitsch, bringing together prominent Korean and international talent.
With its genre-defying premise, large-scale production and a cast spanning Korean and international cinema, HOPE has generated significant anticipation among audiences and film enthusiasts in India. Presented by Plus M Entertainment, and produced by Forged Films in co-production with Plus M Entertainment and Westworld, “Hope” is being released in India via Star Entertainment Pvt Ltd.
